SANA'A UNIVERSITY
Biology Department
(Sana'a, Yemen)
Established in 1970, the University is home to the first Faculty of Science and Arts in Yemen (est. 1974). Approximately 100-120 students are accepted each year, 75% of which are female students. Due to lack of state funding, students are forced to undertake very basic projects that do not require equipment or analytical software.
PROVISIONAL TEACHER
TRAINING COLLEGE
Science Club
(Kampot, Cambodia)
The Provisional Teacher Training College is an institute of 200 trainees. All science is taught as theory, as there is no equipment for hands on learning. So students in high school and even in colleges memorize, for example, chemical combinations and their results.
Ion channels in nervous, muscular and cardiac disorders
(Nice, France)
Led by Saïd Bendahhou, the group seeks to characterize naturally-occurring mutations in ion channels that lead to periodic paralysis, myotonia, paramyotonia congenita, and Andersens syndrome.

Led by Saïd Bendahhou, the group seeks to characterize naturally-occurring mutations in ion channels that lead to periodic paralysis, myotonia, paramyotonia congenita, and namely Andersens syndrome.
Andersens Syndrome (AS) is a rare autosomal disorder, linked to the KCNJ2 gene that encodes for the strong inward rectifier K+ channel Kir2.1. Over 30 mutations have been identified on the KCNJ2 gene, which have been shown to lead to a loss of function of the channels activity. Our research looks at the molecular mechanism by which these channels become not functional and to look at how the these mutations affect normal cell function in skeletal muscle tissues.

Al-Azhar University
Founded in 970 A.D., Al-Azhar is the world's second oldest degree granting university in the world.
In 2009, Al-Azhar officially established a new Marine Biology Department out of its former branch in Zoology. The institute is in need of scientific equipment for teaching and research facilities.

Become a member, request to make a blind donation or suggest a beneficiary.
We have two programs:
1. For start-up labs or your favorite scientist/project
2. For high school, middle and elementary school science programs and small budgeted undergraduate science programs.
How does this work?
Lab equipment and materials are not cheap. With the economy the way it is, scientists and schools, domestically and abroad, are having problems funding their research and classrooms. This is where you come in. You can directly make a donation of a micro-grant towards equipment WISHED for by a scientist and his/her research group or a science teacher/program and have it shipped to them directly.
This allows you to donate to your favorite research field or help a floundering science program that is facing steep cuts because of the economy. All donations will be 100% appropriated to your program of choice and are 100% auditable.
Purchasing donations can work in two ways. You can either outright purchase equipment and supplies needed or you can donate toward a purchase. For each product that reaches its purchase goal, shipping will paid for by sBench and delivered the next day.
So, come and help us:
Change Science With $1.00, $5.00 or even 10 cents.
Why do this?
Unfortunately the answer is simple: science does not have enough money. As a result, getting funding, going into research and even maintaining a position has become more and more competitive. In some ways, we can argue that this leads to a Darwinian approach to technological development, but at the same time it curtails creativity and the realization of ideas.
Many of us here at sBench were, are and know those scientists. So, join us in taking a stand and help make SCIENCE sustainable.
